The PDK International Study Tour program has provided hundreds of members the opportunity to travel, engage with educators and educational practices from around the world, and bring experiences back into their classrooms. Since 1980, the Gerald Reed Travel Scholarship has helped support our travelers and continue this valuable member experience.
After wrapping up a terrific study tour trip to Panama in July 2018, PDK will be pressing pause on our travel program in 2019 while looking into new ways to provide more travel and professional development experiences for our members. We intend to use this time to expand the trip so that it will become a benefit for many more of PDK International’s members and bring these wonderful experiences to more members and students.
While we are not running a group trip, we will still be offering the Gerald Reed Travel Scholarship, as PDK wants to ensure that we continue to support our members as they travel abroad and share those experiences back home with their classrooms and communities. The scholarship application opens January 3, 2019 and closes April 3, 2019. To apply for the scholarship, individuals must briefly describe a trip you will be taking in 2019 that will enhance your professional development and how you will use it to impact your students, colleagues, and/or other PDK members. Scholarships will be awarded at $1,500.
2020 and 2021 trips will be announced April 2019.
We understand that these trips are a huge opportunity for our members and have a far-reaching impact on both them and their students that resonates far beyond the few days we spend together.
